The Hachioji campus is located in the western part of Tokyo and provides an ideal environment in which students can study and practice all aspects of art and design. All department buildings house well-equipped studios and a gallery used for student exhibitions. The university's active role in society is characterized by its commitment to continuing education; therefore, the general public is encouraged to make use of various facilities, including the library, through an extensive program of open classes and workshops. Tama Art University is now involved in the sustainable development of the Tama Hills area and is also supporting the revitalization of the natural environment surrounding the Hachioji campus.
